Developed by the Hawker Aircraft company based on the experience gained when designing the Sea Hawk. The prototype first took to the air in July 1951. In 1953, the Hawker Hunter entered mass production. It was exported to various countries and saw combat service in a range of conflicts in the latter half of the 20th century.
